Tesla has said the production of its new Tesla Cybertruck will be delayed to 2022. Initially, when Musk had revealed the Tesla’s Cybertruck in the year 2019, he had said production would begin in 2021. When users head over to the product page of the vehicle we see the following message: “Fully refundable. You will be able to complete your configuration as production nears in 2022.” You can still pre-order them for $100 with refundable deposits. People would have reserved this cyber truck would be duly disappointed due to this delay. Reports have claimed that Tesla has received over 1 million reservations for the cyber truck. The production of the pickup truck has been postponed to 2022 because the body of the exterior surface exoskeleton requires a different and new manufacturing process.

The light-duty truck is battery-powered and electric coming in three main models the Single Motor RWD, Dual Motor AWD, and Tri-Motor AWD. The Cybertruck was made public at the Tesla Design Studio in Los Angeles on 21 November 2019. The Cybertruck windows could not be easily shattered was what Tesla had claimed. But when Franz von Holzhausen, one of the designers of the truck threw a metal ball at the truck the two windows were easily damaged. Tesla tried to course-correct the incident by saying the windows were already damaged earlier in a demonstration when it was hit by a sledgehammer that had cracked the base of the glass.
It is important to note that all configurations and specifications, for now, are only for the USA. The global specifications of the Cybertruck would be only available at a later date based on the demand for the truck. Depending on the model of the truck, the EPA ranges between 400–800 kilometers (250–500 mi) and pick-up speed from 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in a time of between 2.9–6.5 seconds depending again on the model.
The Cybertruck is built for durability and extreme conditions. The exterior structure of the truck has an impervious exoskeleton. The Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled stainless-steel basic skin to Tesla armor glass is the best when it comes to protecting the truck from long-term damage dents, in short, the truck is built for endurance. The truck has a lot of space: space for a tool kit, tires, and Cyberquad. It has the capacity to pull an unimaginable mass of towing capability well over 14,000 pounds. The truck is able to perform in any difficult situation with ease.
The beast can accommodate easily six people comfortably, coming with also additional storage under the second-row seats. It comes with a complete and advanced 17” touchscreen with all the new customized user interfaces.
The vehicle is not fully autonomous so manual supervision is required for now. Over time, the self-driving features will be continuously updated through over-the-air software updates.
The price of a Single Motor RWD Cybertruck could set you back at least $39,900. Tesla’s Ceo Elon Musk had announced this in a launching event in Los Angeles. The other two models of the truck will be priced at $49,900 and $69,900 respectively. Elon Musk confirmed the cost of manufacturing one Cybertruck would cost a lot of money close to one million dollars. The high cost is because each truck takes around 4,800 battery cells to build.
With many players entering the electric truck market Tesla should be aware of its rivals. Tesla’s rivals such as Ford and GM will only benefit and eat into Tesla’s consumer market share. Such delays will not only be detrimental to its business but people will lose faith in Tesla because of its failure to live up to its promises.
